Picasso's Foray into Photography

Picasso’s little-known Diurnes portfolio (his only venture in the world of photography) was published when the artist was 80 years old – yet it captures all of the cheeky, childlike irreverence that characterised his very best late work.

Made in collaboration with the young photographer André Villers (half a century his junior), Diurnes (‘Daytime’) combined photograms of the provencal landscape with Picasso’s Matisse-inspired cutouts, originally made one afternoon to entertain his children. Join us as we explore this delightful story of late Picasso at play.
