Sometimes the word 'gallery' simply isn't enough. Yes, it's the core of a business dedicated to the best in painting, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics. But here the books turn into paintings, the paintings turn into films. Watch our short film to find out a bit more about us and what we do.

Sid Burnard was born in Brighton in 1948. Introduced to the art of beachcombing by his Romany grandmother, Sid learnt to appreciate the beauty of nature from an early age. His time at Bristol Guild of Applied Arts gave him a profound understanding of visual arts and crafts and allowed him to put his personal vision into practice.
He is now based in Borth near Aberystwyth in Wales, where the flotsam and jetsam from the nearby sea is his only source of materials. Working with found objects, nothing is changed - simply introduced to one another. His driftwood pieces, usually birds, boats or mythical beasts, are full of his passion, integrity and wonderful humour.

About the Work
Very occasionally, ancient pieces of timber have landed on our nearest beach (one such was used in ‘Courtship Display’ in the 2012 exhibition). I realised where it had come from after the tremendous tempests of winter 2014, which drastically ripped out vast chunks of compacted peat/sand seabed, formed over millennia, all along our shore, exposing the remains of a prehistoric forest.
In my store was a fantastic, jagged-toothed tree stump, severely storm-savaged, dramatic as a bolt of lightening, measuring roughly 60 cm across by 75 cm high. Adding three birds of highly characterful fragments of driftwood, two revolving 360 degrees, one clambering up, they appear to be fossils, awakening from a 5,000 year sleep.
