Margaret Fisher-Prout was a highly successful and productive artist who helped improve perceptions of modern art in Britain.
Born in London, daughter of the painter Mark Fisher, she studied under him and later at the Slade School 1894-7. She married John Alexander Prout in 1908. She exhibited at the N.E.A.C., the R.A., the A.R.A. and the R.W.S. and also taught drawing at the Hammersmith School of Arts and Crafts. She had a solo exhibition at the Beaux Arts Gallery in 1922.
