Collection: Patrick Hughes 1939 - present Follow artist
Patrick Hughes was born in 1939. He is a British artist working in London. His early works were often playful, altering perspectives, turning everyday things back to front or squashing them flat. He explored visual oxymorons and paradoxes and became fascinated with the illusion of perspective.
In the 1970s Hughes hung his investigations of perception and illusion on the motif of the rainbow in a series of paintings and prints. More recently he has been proccupied with reverse perspective or 'reverspective', three dimensional paintings that when viewed from the front initially give the impression of a painted flat surface that showing perspective. However this perspective changes dramatically as the viewer moves.
