Jackowski was born in 1947 in Penley, North Wales. His parents were Polish refugees who survived the Second World War.
He spent the first eleven years of his life in a refugee camp on the English/ Welsh border.

He later studied at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, Falmouth School of Art, Royal College of Art. He won the John Minton Scholarship. Winner of the John Moores prize 1991-2 with his picture “The Beekeeper’s Son”. Numerous exhibitions including Marlborough Fine Art.
