Sometimes the word 'gallery' simply isn't enough. Yes, it's the core of a business dedicated to the best in painting, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics. But here the books turn into paintings, the paintings turn into films. Watch our short film to find out a bit more about us and what we do.

The Thames at Chiswick, 1938

Mary Potter, OBE (9 April 1900 – 14 September 1981) was an English painter whose best-known work uses a restrained palette of subtle colours. Many of her pre-war paintings are of the Thames at Chiswick, as seen from her window, while her later work responds to the coastal landscape around Aldeburgh, Suffolk, where she lived for many years. After studying at the Slade School of Fine Art, Potter began her career, exhibiting in London by the early 1920s. From the 1950s, her work became increasingly abstract, and she gained wider notice.

Unsigned original lithograph from the second series of the Contemporary Lithographs.
Potter became increasingly abstract in her paintings. Her contemporary lithograph, produced in her early career, is relatively straightforward, being one of her many views from her Chiswick window. As with many of the artists contributing to Contemporary Lithographs she merely produced a typical work of her genre.
