Born in 1968 in Yerevan, Armenia, Tigran Asatryan has long held a special place in modern Armenian painting. His work has been exhibited all over the world including New York, Beirut, Moscow, Istanbul, Copenhagen and Cairo and examples of his paintings are held in many major collections.

A significant aspect of Asatryan’s pictorial language is the softness of his colour tones, which evoke the sensation of touch. Surreal narratives are suffused with fairy-tale iconography, the shining elements of Asatryan’s art. Such extraordinary literary subjects range from Biblical references, with angels and lions, to Greek myths, with congresses between satyrs and nymphs.

    Signed oil on canvas.

'A truly talented painter Tigran Asatryan has long held a special place in modern Armenian painting. His works, created with his subtle artistic flair and original compositions, have always attracted the viewer. The real and unreal, the lived and unlived collide in his paintings, and the clean and sincere inner world of the painter inadvertently opens up before us.'

The picture I had arranged to see was ready for me and staff gave me lots of time to look at it and decide, but I loved it as soon as I saw it. No pressure. Very knowledgeable, friendly staff. I had great advice on framing and protective glass.

Astonishing place. Driving home I realised it was probably the best experience I've ever had in a shop/gallery. I'll be filling my house with their artworks for years to come. A unique place.
