Sometimes the word 'gallery' simply isn't enough. Yes, it's the core of a business dedicated to the best in painting, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics. But here the books turn into paintings, the paintings turn into films. Watch our short film to find out a bit more about us and what we do.

Albert Kapr (1918 - 1995) was among the most influential and important typographers of the 20th century. Born in Stuttgart in 1918, in 1933 he began his apprenticeship at the Deutsche Verlangsanstalt (DVA, or ‘German Publishing House’) in his hometown. A left-wing activist at the time of Nazi rule, he was arrested and imprisoned for a year for his membership of an antifascist group before being conscripted for military service, continuing his studies after the war at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart.
From 1951 he was employed as a professor of typeface at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig, where he remained a figure central to German type design. An expert on Johannes Gutenberg, he authored hundreds of books on typefaces, book art, and calligraphy, and contributed to the development of several new typescripts as the director of the Dresden-based Typoart, the only major type foundry in East Germany.
