House was born in South Wales in 1932 and studied at Luton and St. Albans Schools of Art. During the 1950s he worked for an advertising agency and it wasn’t until 1961 that he was able to pursue his artistic career, supporting himself by part-time teaching. His client base was extremely diverse; besides the leading London galleries, it included the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Ashmolean Gallery.
The Tate Gallery holds more than 100 of his prints and his work is also represented in many important public collections including the Arts Council, the British Council, the Victoria & Albert Museum and the M.O.M.A. in New York. In 2004 House died and his autobiographical memoir Tin-pan Valley was published posthumously. The following year a major retrospective was held at the Millinery Works. Discover more >

From the Printer's Pie Suite.
This particular set of lithographs was inspired by the brilliant technical authors House had worked with as a graphic designer both in industry and the pop music world. At this time he felt we were ' at the threshold of a major revolution in the production of communication material.' He envisioned, in the 1980's, that the digital age would be transformative for the printing industry.
This suite is an attempt to ' embrace the nostalgia of my own experience in printing with a sight of the now, and what may be.,
