Sometimes the word 'gallery' simply isn't enough. Yes, it's the core of a business dedicated to the best in painting, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics. But here the books turn into paintings, the paintings turn into films. Watch our short film to find out a bit more about us and what we do.
Study for London Pride (Leisure 3), 1950
Over the years he moved from his early Cubist-inspired sculpture to a more lyrical style based on the female nude form. He also produced a series of notable portrait busts. His work was praised by Roger Fry as ‘true and pure sculpture’ and the critic Clive Bell described his Cornucopia as ‘the finest piece of sculpture which has been produced by an Englishman’
After World War II he was appointed professor of Sculpture at the Royal College of Art and awarded the CBE.

Study for London Pride made for the Festival of Britain 1951.The piece was originally sited in plaster on the South Bank and then cast in bronze in 1987 with the help of the Moore Foundation and sited permanently on the South Bank.
'Dobson had been working on a figure group on the theme of Leisure when he was commissioned by the Arts Council to make a large outdoors sculpture for the Festival of Britain. This was to be known as London Pride (Leisure), probably his best-known public sculpture. Study for London Pride (Leisure 3), a terracotta from 1950 which had originally lost an arm, has now had her right arm restored and has been cast in bronze. It is of course a variation on one of Dobson’s obsessions, two girls in silent colloquy.'
